HOUNDS
a film by ann-kristin reyels
shortly before christmas. lars and his father henrik live lonesomely on an old homestead in the uckermark. being strangers they are ignored by the local citizens. the people are smiling at their idea to transfer the barn into a wedding hotel. also the relationship between each other is characterized by speechlessness. nothing changes.
at the train station lars meets marie and for lars a new world begins to open. together they wander through the snowy landscape, which appears bewitched. since lars finds out about the love affair between his father and his aunt jana he feels even more redundant. the chaos within the family seems to be perfect, when lars’ mother appears surprisingly with her lover. the future place for wedding couples converts into a battlefield of subtile crosstalks and emotions. then lars takes the first step to break the ice.
